Three different sources of aid exist for students and student
organizations: the Programming,
Support, and Initiatives Fund (PSIF);
Student Senate Bills for
Funding; and the Organization
Relief Fund (ORF).

Combined ORF/PSIF application
** With the submission of either a PSIF or ORF application, a detailed budget MUST be attached. Applications where this information is missing will not be reviewed by either committee. The budget should provide accurate information in reference to what the money that is requested will pay for. Ideally, this information should be presented in a line-item fashion. Please note that when a student signs the application as complete, they are taking responsibility for providing all necessary documents. PSIF and ORF reserve the right to refuse to hear any application where information is missing.

The Student Government
Programming, Support, and
Initiatives Fund (PSIF) was
created to support new student
organizations, organizations
hosting conferences on campus,
and organizations who are
hosting late-night programs for
students. Applications are
accepted throughout the year and
are due 2-3 weeks before the
proposed event. The Student
Government Programming, Support,
and Initiatives Fund (PSIF) was
created when the LSU student
body passed a $2.00
self-assessed student fee by a
referendum in the Spring 2000
Student Government General
Election (1999-2000 Student
Senate Concurrent Resolution
24). This fee is assessed to all
full-time students per Fall and
Spring semester. The purpose of
this entity shall be to
distribute funds to support the
Student Government Spring
Concert Event, Homecoming
Concert Event, and paid
admission concert series, and to
provide funding to Recreational
Sports Club Teams, the
chartering of new student
organizations, student
organization sponsored
conferences, and late-night,
alcohol-free activities. PSIF
was amended in the Spring of
2002 to include the disbursement
of a one time donation by the
Coca Cola Company. This donation
was broken into two funds
including the Coca Cola
Programming Support Fund and the
Multicultural Leadership Cabinet
Fund. These two funds have since
been depleted.
The LSU student body passed a
$1.00 self-assessed student fee
by a referendum in the Spring
2002 Student Government General
Election (2001-2002 Student
Senate Concurrent Resolution
35). The purpose of this fee was
to raise the current
Programming, Support and
Initiatives Fee to cover
expenses incurred in the
establishment of Late-Night,
On-Campus, Alcohol Free
Activities. The LSU student body
passed a $2.50 self-assessed
student fee by a referendum in
the Spring 2005 Student
Government General Election
(2004-2005 Student Senate
Concurrent Resolution 42). The
purpose of this fee was to raise
the current Programming, Support
and Initiatives Fee to increase
the Spring Concert Fund by $2.00
and the Paid Admissions Concert
Fund by $.50.

Calendar Fall 2011
Coming Soon!
The Organizational
Relief Fund (ORF) is
designed to help
defray the travel
costs of full-time
undergraduate
students (graduate
students apply
through the graduate
school) traveling to
conferences,
conventions, or
competitions which
are educational,
academic, or
professional in
nature. Priority is
given to
representatives of
student
organizations,
University
departments, and in
some cases,
individual students
planning to attend
activities that
benefit and/or allow
representation of
the entire
University and not
just the
organization,
department, or
individual. The ORF
is a supplemental
source of travel
funds. The committee
expects
organizations to
secure funding from
other sources.
It is important to
note that the ORF
application must be
turned into Debra
Joseph, Office of
the Dean of Students
116 Johnston Hall.
All applications
must be submitted
and reviewed prior
to the travel date.
No post-travel
applications will be
reviewed. It is
strongly advised
that a
representative of
the organization
applying for ORF
funds attend the
meeting during which
their application
will be reviewed.
You will be notified
of the date your
application will be
reviewed when you
submit your
application to the
Office of the Deans
of Students
Student Senate Bill for Funding
Registered student
organizations may seek
additional funding for their
programs, conventions, or
competitions by speaking to a
Student Senator or filling out a
"Funding Request Form" located
in the Student Government or
Student Senate Offices.
Interested student senators will
follow up on individual requests
and may submit a bill for the
Senate approval. For more
information please call 578-7176
or come by the LSU Union.
Organizations whose requests qualify for
either ORF or PSIF must first apply to those
funds before being eligible for Senate
funding. Senate funding may not be acquired
for an event/trip that is already being
funding by PSIF or ORF.
