The
Executive Branch is organized under nine
departments and two teams that focus on
different aspects of student life and
Student Government affairs. Each department
includes at least one staff member, who is
appointed by the President and confirmed by
the Senate.
Department of Academics
Under this Department shall fall all
activity pertaining to academic issues. This
includes any Student Government-led effort
to assist in improving students' academic
experiences. The responsibilities of the
Department of Academics shall include, but
not be limited to, the formulation and
execution of the following initiatives:
▪ Increasing options for the affordability
of textbooks.
▪ Encouraging all academic staff to post
course materials and assignments online.
▪ Ensuring the implementation of
organizational flow charts for degree
programs.
▪ Overseeing the Provost Council.
▪ Coordinating extensions to the hours of
operation of Middleton Library.
▪ Encourage online Counselor/appointment
scheduling for all colleges.
▪ Assisting in the development of the Degree
Tracking Program.
Department of Athletics
Under this Department shall fall all
activity pertaining to athletic policies of
the university as they relate to students.
The responsibilities of the Department of
Athletics shall include, but not be limited
to, the formulation and execution of the
following initiatives:
▪ Being a liaison to the Athletic Department
and the Athletic Council.
▪ Reevaluate the Priority Point process to
account for all students attending away
games.
▪ Coordinating partnerships between the
Athletic Administration and Student
Government.
▪ Increase student gate access.
▪ Allow tracking of Priority Points on PAWS.
Department of Campus Development
Under this Department shall fall all
activities pertaining to the construction,
development and maintenance of physical
aspects of the LSU campus. The
responsibilities of the Department of Campus
Development shall include, but not be
limited to, the formulation and execution of
the following initiatives:
▪ Improving campus lighting.
▪ Acting as the official intermediary
between the Executive Branch and LSU
Recreational Services and the Student Health
Center.
▪ Working with the Office of Facility
Development on "enhancing the core"
projects.
▪ Updating the Executive Cabinet on the
progress of campus development projects.
▪ Working to extend wireless internet access
to all of campus.
▪ Working to establish an on-campus Farmer's
Market.
▪ Working to extend hours for dining
facilities.
Department of External Affairs
Under this Department shall fall all
activity pertaining to Student Government's
interactions with the local government as
well as efforts to engage the community and
other entities outside of the LSU campus.
The responsibilities of the Department of
External Affairs shall include, but not be
limited to, the formulation and the
execution of the following initiatives:
▪ Attending North Gate Merchants'
Association meetings.
▪ Working with the Baton Rouge Chamber of
Commerce and Plan Baton Rouge on
developments near campus that effect
students.
▪ Coordinating projects and plans with the
Office of the Partnership for Public
Service.
Department of Student Assistance
Under This Department shall fall activity
regarding assisting LSU Students for
University Issues. All activities of this
department shall be seen by the
Ombudsperson. The responsibilities of the
Department of Student Assistance shall
include, but not be limited to, the
formulation and the execution of the
following initiatives:
▪ Checking the Ombudsperson Email account
and responding to students' queries.
▪ Working with the office of judicial
affairs to enhance the student code of
conduct.
▪ To facilitate dialogue and provide
solutions to grievances by students.
Department of Student Involvement
Under this Department shall fall all
activity pertaining to Student Government's
student involvement and programming efforts.
The responsibilities of the Department of
Student Involvement shall include, but not
be limited to, the formulation and execution
of the following initiatives:
▪ Administer Students on Target.
▪ Planning "Chats with the Chancellor".
▪ Planning Finals Week Activities.
▪ Facilitating and coordinating the Freshmen
Leadership Council.
▪ Facilitating involvement in and between
student organizations.
▪ Bringing local leaders to campus for
conversations with students.
▪ Continuing the growth of Student
Government-led community service projects.
Department of Transportation
Under this Department shall fall all
activity involving student transportation in
and around campus. The responsibilities of
the Department of Transportation shall
include, but not be limited to, the
formulation and execution of the following
initiatives:
▪ Developing safe options for nighttime
travel for students.
▪ Extending the reach of campus buses.
▪ Lobbying for the extension of the reach of
local buses.
▪ Adjusting bus schedules to fixed
schedules.
▪ Establishing a Tiger Tram system.
▪ Serving as a delegate to CATS.
